Han Beasts

洪福遠 , 1980

The picture is based on the bronze ware of Han Dynasty(202BC-220) unearthed in Ding County, Hebei Province – the bronze car is decorated of gold and silver. The picture is divided into three areas with different background colors. In the lower right corner, there is a man riding a camel, a bear and a fox. The middle block is painted with Phoenix, deer, horse hunters, dragons, cranes and elephant riders. The block in the upper left corner is painted with deer, cranes and other animals. The picture is tense and dynamic. The animal depiction is simple and vivid. It is not only like myth, but also like real hunting life, which is flexible and mysterious.
